What is a Psychic?

The word ‘psychic’ has been derived from the Greek word ‘psyche’.

We need to first understand the word ’psyche’ in order to be clear about its reader or the psychic.

What is psyche and what is its importance?

The word ‘psyche’ means mind, spirit or the soul.  Although, the mind, soul or the spirit are not physical organs like heart or liver, they are subtle human faculties that generate thoughts, feeling, emotions and sentiments. And we all know that we live by our thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Our psyche, thus, stands for our thoughts, feelings and emotions that determine the quality of our nature, which affects our physical, mental and spiritual health.

Our psyche generates actions which, in turn, determine our future though their consequences. It also determines our present, past and future.

Who is a psychic?

A psychic is an expert who understands the working of human psyche. A psychic is essentially a reader of the psyche. The word’ reader’ does not mean a person who can decipher the written script. It means a person who can decipher ‘the reading on the wall’ or the future of the people.

A psychic reader, therefore, is a person, who can analyze the thoughts, emotions, feeling and sentiments of the people and their impact on their nature and destiny.

Psychics use different techniques or expertise in order to give their readings. This explains why there are different forms of psychic readings. Thus, we have tarot reading, numerology reading, aura reading, horoscope reading, clairvoyant reading, mediumship reading, etc.

Psychics are often identified by the kind of reading they give. Thus we have numerologists, tarot readers, astrologers, medium psychics, clairvoyants and so on.

Most psychics or psychic readers offer their readings online. There are three popular ways for delivering online readings. They are online chat readings, phone readings and email readings.

Here is a brief description of a psychic reader who gives numerology readings and is, therefore, called a numerologist.

Numerology is an ancient psychic art of analyzing the traits of the nature of the people and divining their future by the use of numbers.

Numerology was practiced by several civilizations and communities across the world including India, Egypt, China and Greece. The name of Greek mathematician, philosopher, mystic, astronomer and teacher, Pythagoras needs to be specially mentioned here.

Pythagoras, who lived and worked in sixth century BC, is known as the father of modern numerology. He was so much impressed by the divinatory powers of the numbers that he swore his students to secrecy about their knowledge of numerology and its benefits. Numerology, obviously, enjoyed the status of an esoteric art and only a privileged few enjoyed its benefits.

Numerologists believe that all the letters of the Alphabet have a deep and mysterious relationship with numerals.  They, have, therefore, assigned each letter with a number.

For example, the letter A has its corresponding number 1, B has 2, C has 3. It goes on until the letter I, which has the value of 9. The cycle starts again with letter J having the value of 1.

The numerologists ask the clients to provide their names, date and place of birth. They convert this data into their corresponding numbers and make some mathematical calculations to arrive at what they variously call destiny number, fate number or life path number etc.  This number is the key to all the important personal traits of the clients. Numerologists also predict the future of the people on the basis of their personal traits.

For example, the clients whose life path number 1 are generally strong-willed, powerful, innovative and pioneering people with great determination and sense of purpose.
